OPPAIR Warm Tips: Precautions for using air compressor in winter

In the cold winter, if you do not pay attention to the maintenance of the air compressor and shut it down for a long time without anti-freeze protection during this period, it is common to cause the cooler to freeze and crack and the compressor to be damaged during startup. The following are some suggestions provided by OPPAIR for users to use and maintain air compressors in winter.

1. Lubricating Oil inspection

Check whether the oil level is at the normal position (between the two red oil level lines), and shorten the lubricating oil replacement cycle appropriately. For machines that have been shut down for a long time or the oil filter has been used for a long time, it is recommended to replace the oil filter element before starting the machine to prevent insufficient oil supply to the compressor due to the reduced ability of the oil to penetrate the oil filter due to the viscosity of the oil when starting up, causing the compressor to become hot instantly when starting. , causing damage.

2. Pre-start inspection

When the ambient temperature is below 0°C in winter, remember to preheat the machine when turning on the air compressor in the morning. Methods as below:

After pressing the start button, wait for the air compressor to run for 3-5 seconds and then press stop. After the air compressor stops for 2-3 minutes, repeat the above operations! Repeat the above operation 2-3 times when the ambient temperature is 0°C. Repeat the above operation 3-5 times when the ambient temperature is lower than -10℃! After the oil temperature rises, start the operation normally to prevent the low-temperature lubricating oil from being too high in viscosity, resulting in poor lubrication of the air end and causing dry grinding, high temperatures, damage or jamming!

3. Inspection after stopping

When the air compressor is working, the temperature is relatively high. After it is shut down, due to the low outside temperature, a large amount of condensed water will be produced and present in the pipeline. If it is not discharged in time, the cold weather in winter may cause blockage, freezing and cracking of the compressor's condensation pipe and oil-gas separator and other components. Therefore, in winter, after the air compressor is shut down for cooling, you must pay attention to venting all gas, sewage, and water, and promptly venting the liquid water in the pipeline.

In summary, when using an air compressor in winter, you need to pay attention to lubricating oil, pre-start inspection, and inspection after stopping. Through reasonable operation and regular maintenance, the normal operation of the air compressor can be ensured and work efficiency improved.
